Atlas Orthogonal Adjustments

We can routinely help with headaches, migraines, neck pain, and dizziness/vertigo with a gentle, scientific adjustment of the atlas (the first cervical vertebra). We believe it is one of the most important vertebrae in the spine because of its relationship to the brain stem and cranial nerves. The vertebral artery that runs through the atlas provides 35% to 40% of the blood to the brain. A correct atlas orthogonal adjustment will provide for optimal blood flow.

The first place that we like to start to help the patient begin in the healing process is atlas orthogonal care. Atlas Orthogonal is a chiropractic technique, based on the vertical relationship of the body, where the head is centered over the pelvis and feet. This positioning is established to support the body from the stresses of gravity. The atlas orthogonal chiropractor studies the alignment of atlas. The first cervical vertebra is the foundation of the spine, supporting the head, which is equivalent in weight to that of a bowling ball. It is a very gentle and specific adjustment that is performed with a percussion energy wave just below the ear.

Extremity adjustments

Most knee problems are from a weakness that is present in the ankle (rolled ankle). After adjustments of the ankle, the tibia and femur can rotate back to their biomechanical norm.

The wrist bones can be adjusted and lasered using Cold Laser Therapy to prevent swelling in the carpal tunnel. Removing the swelling and realigning the carpal bones can possibly prevent having to have surgery.

Most shoulder problems are due to a fall. The shoulder adjustment will try to re-establish the correct alignment.

Surgery is forever. Give us a chance. Dr. Blais is Certified in Proficiency of Extremity Adjusting by Dr. M.R. Mally, National Clinical Consultant.

Cold Laser Therapy

Where is this being used?

The Erchonia cold laser device has gained recent FDA approval for the non-surgical treatment of neck and shoulder complaints and is being used widely in the NFL and by the USPS tour de France team chiropractor. The beneficial effects of the Erchonia laser are currently being researched by leading plastic surgeons for use in liposuction procedures.

How does it work? When the body has an injury the cells are damaged and fail to function within normal parameters. Low level lasers penetrate deeply into the skin and works by restoring this abnormal cellular function. Physiologic effects include improved metabolism, circulation and tissue healing.

Laser therapy may be useful to you if you have any of the following: weaknesses of entire nerve root or an isolated muscle, tendonitis, frozen shoulder, fractures, post-operative wounds, sprain-strains, scar tissue, autoimmune diseases, chronic or acute pain, wound healing, arthritis, migraines, disc herniations, minor nerve damage, carpal tunnel syndrome, heavy metal detoxification

NeuroCranial Restructuring

NeuroCranial Restructuring is a manipulation process used to unwind the body into its original and optimal design. It utilizes careful analysis of the bodies proprioception (patterns of balance) to determine the precise areas of the skull needing to be unlocked. This unlocking allows the connective tissues (including the meningeal system) to release their residual tension and move the bony structures incrementally back toward the bodies original design. NeuroCranial Restructuring uses balloons to move the sphenoid bone. The actual manipulation technique involves the insertion and inflation of a small balloon via the nasal passage into the throat. The balloon is inflated for approximately 1-3 seconds. The sphenoid bone is the strongest skull bone, the most difficult to access and move. This major skull bone serves as the axis or foundation for the entire head. The actions of breathing initiate minute movements of the skull plates, triggering subtle shape changes in the head. When this bone is moved and restabilized, the meninges/connective tissue are freed, allowing the brain to function more optimally resulting in decreased symptoms. It is a safe and highly effective in reducing and eliminating symptoms.

Decompression Traction Therapy

Decompression traction therapy is performed on the cervical or lumbar disc to decrease pressure and to promote motion; restoring nutrients and enhancing healing. Decompression traction therapy also helps to provide pain relief by gently stretching soft tissue.

The Triton Decompression Traction System represents the finest decompression traction therapy available today. Cervical and lumbar decompression traction can be delivered utilizing the Triton DTS in a controlled and proven method, all at a fraction of the cost of competitive devices.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture

The ancient art of acupuncture has been used in Asia for centuries to treat many conditions and relieve pain. It's now being used in the United States and other Western countries to ease everything from low back pain, to nerve pain (such as painful shingles rashes), to headaches, fibromyalgia, and menstrual cramps — and more.

Traditional Chinese acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely fine needles into the skin at specific "acupoints." This may relieve pain by releasing endorphins, the body's natural pain-killing chemicals, and by affecting the part of the brain that governs serotonin, a brain chemical involved with mood.

Dr. Blais is National Board Certified in acupuncture and he is always willing to have a consultation without any charge.

Corrective Exercises

We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.
