Whiplash Treatment

If you are suffering from whiplash, your Blair chiropractor at Midwest Chiropractic and Acupuncture can offer you a whiplash treatment plan to get you feeling relief. Whiplash can lead to debilitating headaches, neck pain, and other symptoms. If you have been in an auto accident or had a personal injury that caused whiplash, it is best that you get the preferably treatment as soon as possible.

Defining Whiplash

Whiplash is the result of rapid back and forth movement of the head. The neck gets injured and strained in the process. Auto accidents are a common source of the problem. A physical assault or sport-related injuries, such as being tackled in a game of football, can have the same effect. If not treated properly or soon, there can be long-lasting complications to your health.

Whiplash Symptoms

Whiplash symptoms vary from being subtle to severe. They may not appear for some time after the initial injury. Neck pain and stiffness, as well as some degree of shoulder pain, are common symptoms. Headaches can occur and usually begin in the base of the skull, which is a cardinal sign of whiplash.

Many patients report that their pain is worse with movement, and they will guard or restrict neck motion as a result. Symptoms, such as numbness and tingling, may affect the arms. Whiplash can also affect the brain because the trauma from hitting the skull damages the delicate structures. Visual changes, memory problems, sleep disturbances, and ringing in the ears can all result from whiplash.

Whiplash Treatment

For a few lucky individuals, whiplash resolves on its own within a few weeks of the injury. That is not the case for all. Some people continue to be plagued with symptoms for months or even years after the injury. Those who have more severe symptoms, take longer to recover.

In our chiropractic care, we want you to able to do your daily activities without having the constant problem of pain. Our chiropractor will do a wellness evaluation to see if you are suffering from whiplash or any other injuries. Once diagnosed, we will provide a treatment plan just for you. Spinal alignments, massages, acupuncture, corrective exercises, and other chiropractic treatments are helpful for those who suffer whiplash.
